I am using the combo Zire72 + Palm One WiFi Card purchased one month ago. I had no problems configuring and connecting WiFi card to a DSL Router or any Hot spot, but when I am using WebPro or listening streaming audio with Pocket Tunes, I receive frequently "Fatal exceptions" (with no error code) having to reset my Zire.
I have reinstalled many times the WiFi software, after a hard reset and using the upgraded WiFi software, and the results are always the same: Fatal Exception and reset the device.
These problems seem to happen when the WiFi connection is weak, or in Pocket Tunes using high bitrates (more than 64 kbps).
Disabling the options of energy saving don't appear to change the behaviour.
Any suggestion? Thanks in advance

I have used many times my Zire 72 with the Palm WiFi card, in infrastructure and ad-hoc mode, and always have worked correctly.
Just a question: do you have appforge booster installed?
regards

Thank you for your answer
No, I don't have installed Appforge. I normally configure my WiFi network in infrastructure mode. My dsl router is a 3COM ADSL 11g WIRELESS ROUTER (3CRADSL72). This router is equal to SMC Barricade (SMC7804WBRA)
I always try to install WiFi software on the pda inmediately after each hard reset (at this moment the PDA has only its ROM software, which includes WebPro), and crashes as well. It crashes more frequently when I install Pocket Tunes and listen to a Shoutcast Internet station, specially when the bitrate is greater than 64kbps. However, when I connect to a local Shoutcast installation (on a pc of my local network) the problem appears less frequently.
Regards

The WiFi card is "only" B-class (11mb) and not G-class (54mb) like youre
router. Can you set the router to B or Mixed-mode and try again.
If this dont work or you have it on B/Mixed-mode could you please tell me
more about the router setup. Have you tryed to connect to a hotspot /
another router?

Thank you for your answer
I have configured my router as a mixed access point (10g + 10b). Although the crash appears no matter if I am accessing through my home router or a hotspot (tested two weeks ago on a hotel hotspot).
But the only point is clear to me is that it seems that the weaker the signal is the sooner the problem appears.
Regards.

The problem is not with the WiFi card but PocketTunes. Go here for all the details:

This is a known issue with PocketTunes and they are working on it.

Thank you for the information.
It seems to be a well known and old problem...
This in an extract from a Normsoft reply in Pockettunes Yahoo Group on October 6 2004:
"Well I do have an update, and not good news. The problem IS a bug in the WiFi card driver. We've filed a bug report with PalmOne and hope they respond quickly with an updated driver. Essentially what is happening is that once our buffer is filled, as it empties, the WiFi card will not allow us to "reconnect" to the server to keep the stream consistent and the buffer filled. We tried adjusting the buffer size to see if that would make a difference. It did allow streaming to go as long as 20 minutes, but invariably eventually we got the crash again."
The updated WiFi driver from November 29th didn't solve this problem.
Does anyone know if PalmOne is "really" aware of this problem and know its importance?.... And finally when are they going to fix it.
Hangs and crashes on T5 also

I'm getting lots of hangs and crashes using the November driver and a T5. It's likely related.
I'm in an environment with lots of APs and traffic, so it tkaes just minutes to get crash.
Palm really needs to issue another driver with fixes or this WiFi card product is worthless.
